The Sysdoc Group, owned by ex-commercial pilot Katherine Corich, are delighted to be providing Gliding Scholarships for young women who would like to learn to fly or progress their flight training. Katherine has fond memories of her pilot training, the life skills and self – discipline it instilled in her and wishes to give something back to young women who also have the wish to follow their dreams of flight.

These Scholarships are open to all women under 26. The flight training will be undertaken at the Greytown Soaring Centre, Papawai, Wairarapa NZ between 01 Dec 2019 and 31 Mar 2020.

The Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of a few brief paragraphs (75 – 150 words) outlining why you think you should be awarded a scholarship and how it would help you achieve your flying ambitions. The most compelling reasons will determine the awards.

There are two categories of Scholarship:

  1. The top Scholarship of $1000 and a runner-up scholarship of $600 are open to those who have already commenced power or glider training. The scholarship funds will go towards flying and admin fees based on the Wellington Gliding Clubs standard Youth rates. View the Wellington Gliding Clubs schedule of fees.
  2. There are also two additional Scholarships of $200  covering a One Day Introduction to Gliding Course. Applications are to be made online below. They are now open and close 25 November. Successful applicants will be advised within 1 week of the closing date.
