A introductory lesson is a great way to experience the fun and challenges of soaring! Even better, join us for a one-day course and experience the sport’s many facets.
Flight time – 40 to 60 minutes approx 2 – 3 winch launches
Time on Airfield – allow full day Available Mon – Sat during Dec – Mar Sat only during Apr – Nov Weather permitting Like to become a glider pilot? This course could be for you. You will experience a day in the life of a gliding Club from preparing the gliders in the morning to sharing the experiences of the day in the evening.
The One Day Course provides two to three students with a two seat training glider and an instructor for the day.
The day consists of briefings, primary gliding exercises , ground operations , airfield safety and ample opportunities to ask as many questions as you like from both your instructor and other club members.
As intensive as it may be the intention is that the day be a rewarding and fun experience.
At the end of your day you will receive a Certificate recording your flights and your membership of our Club for a period of three months. This entitles you to a further two flights at Club rates.
We currently operate out of the Greytown Soaring Centre off Tilson’s road, Papawai, Greytown.
Passenger weight of up to 110 kg can normally be accommodated within the gliders weight and balance range. For passenger weights below 50 kgs it may be necessary to ride in the back seat. These are safety requirements so please don’t be offended when your instructor asks. Limitations apply to all courses.
